2018 College Football Preview

UNC Tar Heels Season Kicks Off September 1

It is almost September, which means the main focus of any KAO fraternity should be one thing—college football.

The 2018 UNC Tar Heels football season kicks off on September 1st, 2018, at 4:00 p.m. as the team takes on the California Golden Bears at Memorial Stadium.

This is an important season for the program; last year did not go as planned for players or fans. A rebuilding year was the expectation, and a losing season was the reality. But, this year, there are huge hopes for a big season and there are several reasons why.

Prior to the start of last season, the Tar Heels had already lost quarterback Mitch Trubisky and five other starters to the NFL Draft. While the complete retooling of the offensive line, injuries and other factors do not excuse the losing record, it at least gives the ability to start addressing areas where the team can improve this coming season.

Both Nathan Elliott and Chazz Surratt are vying for the starting quarterback position, both talented in their own right. Wide receiver Anthony Ratliff-Williams caught 15 passes for 294 yards in his last three games, showcasing the potential in the Tar Heels supporting cast.

Defensively, Senior DE Malik Carney in the front and Junior CB K.J. Sails in the back will certainly make an impact. Seasoned players like Jeremiah Clarke, Jalen Dalton, Jason Strowbridge and Aaron Crawford—who combined for 23 tackles for loss—will also be returning for the 2018 Tar Heels football season.

With UNC expected to bounce back in the most explosive way possible, there is no better time to meet all your buddies from KAO fraternity at an upcoming tailgate for some great action by the Tar Heels. The road games for the season include California, East Carolina, Virginia and Duke, so make sure to find an away-game tailgate to get together with your brothers for the love of football.

You know game day in Chapel Hill is always exciting, and hosting or attending a tailgate only adds to the thrill of watching the Tar Heels. Home games for the 2018 UNC Tar Heels college football season include matchups against UCF, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, WCU, and NC State. We'll see you there!
